“Assassination attempt on our Jewish fellow citizens”

Aimless force? In Berlin some hold the rioting at the Humboldt university after a pupil demo for a purposeful action. The HU-president warns of a minimization of the incident, and the LKA determines whether the rioters had anti-Semitic motives.

A political, anti-Semitic background is not to be excluded, said a speaker of the citizens of Berlin police Spiegel online. The past investigations would have shown this.

“Intolerable apology strategies”

In the “citizens of Berlin morning mail” the citizen of Berlin said LKA boss Peter Michael Haeberer, it believes not that the demonstrators would have arranged their destruction indiscriminately: “Who avails itself now tried to define this incident as general Vandalismus of a cheap excuse.”

Also HU-president Christian OF Markschies resists a minimization the rioting. National pupil representatives had explained, the force against things was an expression of rage and powerlessness of the pupils. Markschies does not want to tolerate such statements. Already to Thursday it addressed itself with a letter to the coworkers of the university, which Spiegel online is present. Therein Markschies calls the “apology strategies” the pupil “intolerablly”, for instance the statement, “the applied pupils knew not, what they destroy”.

Markschies called the attacks on the exhibition and participants of a conference in the senate hall “an assassination attempt on our Jewish fellow citizens and the whole democratic culture of the country”.

Open letter of the demo organizers

Also the Israeli daily paper “Jerusalem post office” reported in the Internet over the incident under the heading “German children destroy anti-Nazi exhibition”. The chairman of the Jewish municipality, Lala sweet child, had explained on Thursday that after their information also anti-Semitic expressions were fallen. It was not to be achieved for a statement on Friday.

The chairman of the Jewish forum for democracy and against anti-Semitism, Levi Salomon, could not confirm sweet child information on Friday, did not express themselves however deeply affected: “Such an exhibition is us to remind and remind - and we experience that it is destroyed.”

With delay the organizers of the pupil demonstration condemned the damage of the exhibition in the meantime in an open letter expressly. The initiators affirm in the fact however that it did not concern after its information with the violent actions purposeful acts, but around the consequence of a rage accumulated over long time: “According to our opinion in no case an apology for the occurrences is.”

Central Council of the Jews reminds to the restraint

The Central Council of the Jews in Germany reminded meanwhile to the restraint. “With the anti-Semitic motive one should be very careful”, said Secretary-General Stephan Kramer on Friday Spiegel online. The acts of violence are to be condemned, it might however no hasty conclusions from it be pulled: “We may in-interpret there nothing, which we do not know reliably. Thus one does to the fight against anti-Semitism nothing property.”

The exhibition “betraying and sold” over the Jewish enterprises in the time of 1933 to 1945 is to be opened on coming Monday again. In a panel discussion also the actions by force at the edge of the pupil strike are to be brought up for discussion.
